| 23" Spotted Horse Pipe Order One Like This | ||

The total length of this very attractive Horse Effigy Pipe is 23-1/4" long. It is made out of Sacred Catlinite, which is commonly referred to, by many people, as Pipestone. Catlinite has been used for centuries by Native Americans to make important ceremonial pipes and other items. It is a red stone that is believed to have originated from the blood of Native American ancestors.
The particular piece of stone used for this pipe is some of the very sought after spotted stone. It comes from the infamous "Spotted Quarry" at the Pipestone National Monument. The pipe has some interesting colors in it, along with all the beautiful spots or "stars".
The pipe bowl measures 6-1/16" long and it is just a hair under 3" tall. As you can see on the photo's, special attention was given to the features of the horse. It's ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and front legs can all be seen in great detail. Extra time was also given to the horses main.

The idea for this pipe originated from someone who had emailed us with a few pictures of an authentic older pipe that was fashioned much like this one. (The original was quite a bit larger though) We incorporated some of our own style and characteristics into it, and this is what we ended up with. Since making that first pipe, we have made and sold app a 1/2 dozen of this design.
The California Redwood stem is 18" long.
This stem was beaded by Hapan in traditional Sioux style using black and white Czech. glass seed beads. There are also nice, long leather fringes that hang down from the stem.
This pipe will make a great ceremonial pipe or could be used as the "People's Pipe" at next years Sundance.
