 Darwin & Christine Wallenburg - 11-1/4" 4-Winds Pipew/ Sumac Stemavailable - Lakota Creations
11-1/2" Fancy Personal 4-Winds Pipe
$70.00

The total length of this catlinite pipe is 11-1/4" long. Catlinite or Pipestone as it is commonly referred to is a type of stone that has been used for ceremonial pipes for 100's of years.

The 4-winds bowl measures 3-1/8" long and it is 2" tall. This is a traditional 4-winds pipe made out of a very beautiful piece of dark red catlinite that has many very small spots or 'stars' in it.

As you can see on the photo's, the pipe has a "square shank" where the stem is inserted. This was a common thing for pipemakers to do years ago...and it's something we still like to do on some of our pipes occasionally.

The rings and designs on this pipe were put on the pipe bowl after the pipe had been waxed, which has become a pretty common practice for us, simply because people really seem to like it. It allows you to see the natural color of the stone and provides for a nice contrast in the piece.

The pipe is signed by "Hapan". The stem is made out of traditional Sumac. It is decorated with deer leather fringes and beaded in traditional Sioux style.

The pipe is fully functional and will make a great personal pipe for someone. This is the type of pipe that would make a nice 'first' pipe for a young man or woman who is going to be fasting for the first time in the near future.

If you are interested in this piece and would like to see additional pictures, i.e. close-ups of the bowl, a photo that shows the entire stem, etc..., please email us or give us a call.

Shipping for this item is $8.00
