catlinite Make A Native American Ceremonial Pipe - Want to Make Your Own Catlinite/Pipestone or Steatite Ceremonial Peace Pipe?
$65.00

Here we have 7 smaller pieces of some high quality steatite or black pipestone.

Just to give you an idea of the size/s of the pieces, I've measured a few and will describe them to you:
The piece in the top left corner measures app 9" long across the bottom app 4" at the top. It is about 3" tall. The thickness of this piece varies from about 5/8" to 7/8" thick.
The piece in the top right corner is 2-1/4" long and it is 3-1/4" tall. It is app 1-1/2" thick.
The piece in the bottom left corner of the picture is app 5" long x 2" tall and is 1-3/8" thick.
The piece in the bottom right corner of the picture is app 2-1/4" long x 1-3/4" and is 1-1/4" thick.

The stone on this listing will be very nice to carve. It's soft enough that it's a pleasure to work with and it's hard enough that it still works great for pipes or animal effigies. It will compare to carving the red Sacred Pipestone....which if you've had the opportunity to work with, you know it's the best carving stone out there...

This type of stone has been carved into pipes by Native Americans for literally 1000's of years. It holds up exceptionally well to intense heat. Steatite carves the best using a furrier's rasp or other wood carving files. This stone is soft enough that it can be cut with a regular hacksaw or with a bandsaw if you're using a new and sharp blade.

If you are interested in these pieces of stone and have any questions about them, please email us or give us a call. If you have a specific size piece of steatite in mind you can also Contact Us and we will gladly see if we have something on hand that will work for you.

Shipping for this item to anywhere in the continental U.S. is $17.00 and if you purchase more these 7 pieces of stone from us, the price of shipping stays at $17.00, as long as all of the items can fit in one of the U.S.P.S. flat rate boxes.
