Effigy Pipes Native American Effigy or Animal Pipes - Native American Ceremonial Effigy or Animal Pipes

This is a smaller personal pipe that is handcrafted out of Sacred Pipestone or catlinite. (the name that was given it after the famed explorer George Catlin visited the area) This is the stone, that for 100's of years, Native Americans from all over the continent traveled (sometimes for weeks or months) to Pipestone MN to quarry and try to obtain some of the precious material to carve into personal or ceremonial pipes.

This eagle head pipe is made out of a piece of the stone that is dark red with lots of very small spots....and a larger one by the eye of the eagle.

This pipe will measure 11-1/2" long, when the stem is inserted. The bowl itself measures 3-1/8" long and it is 1-7/8" tall.

The slightly burned stem is made out of Pine. This will be a very nice personal pipe for someone. The pipe is signed by Many Lightnings. He is an enrolled member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota Sioux tribe.
