| | | 7-1/2" Personal 4-Winds Pipe | The total length of this catlinite pipe is 8" long. Catlinite or Pipestone as it is commonly referred to is a type of stone that has been used for ceremonial pipes for 100's of years.
The 4-winds bowl measures 2-5/16" long and it is 1-3/4" tall. This is a traditional 4-winds pipe.
The rings and designs on this pipe were put on the pipe bowl after the pipe had been waxed, which has become a pretty common practice for us, simply because people really seem to like it. It allows you to see the natural color of the stone and provides for a nice contrast in the piece.
The pipestone or catlinite that was used for this pipe is a beautiful dark red color with lots of small spots or "stars" in it.
The pipe is signed by "Hapan". The stem is made out of California redwood. It is decorated with deer leather fringes and beaded in traditional Sioux style.
The pipe is fully functional and will make a great personal pipe for someone. This is the type of pipe that would make a nice first pipe for a young man or woman who is going to be fasting for the first time in the near future. It could also be the type of pipe that someone may want to use when they just want to spend some time praying by themselves.
